Three out of eleven residents of the Sagwari Estate Layout in the Dutsen-Alhaji neighborhood of the Federal Capital Territory, including a 13-year-old secondary school student named Folorunsho Ariyo, have reportedly been killed by kidnappers.
On Sunday, January 7, at around 7:30 p.m., kidnappers broke into the Sagwari village and took 11 people hostage, including a woman and her four children as well as a bartender and receptionist from a neighboring hotel.
The pastor fled while the gunmen took their victims up to the mountain, according to a hotel employee who told our correspondent about the kidnappers’ raid. The estate security and some police officers’ combined attempts to track the kidnappers had been unsuccessful because they were unable to locate the abductors nor the victims.

The late Folashade was identified as the daughter of the Chief Legal Officer of the National Universities Commission, who was born in Ekiti state. According to information obtained by The PUNCH, her body was dumped alongside three others, including Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, near a former military checkpoint behind Idah junction along the Bwari-Jere SCC Road in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The kidnappers have reportedly raised their demands from the relatives of the other seven victims to N100 million in ransom for each of the victims, citing delays in paying the N60 million ransom for each victim.
Nigerians are furious at Folashade’s death and have demanded that the government cease the unrest in the country’s capital, pointing out that the area had never been so unsafe.

ASP Josephine Adeh, the Force’s Public Relations Officer, stated that the police were “working on it,” but as of the time this report was filed, no statements had been released by the police. Meanwhile, our journalist called Adamu Gwary, the Secretary of Security for the Federal Capital Territory, but he did not pick up.
Najeebah was one of the abduction victims; it is said that the men who abducted her and the other five sisters in Abuja killed her.
On January 9, Najeebah’s father was kidnapped along with her sisters.
After that, the gunmen freed their father and instructed him to go gather N60 million as payment before Friday, January 12, in order to free her daughters.
Nigerians were asked to deposit whatever money they had into a bank account in an effort to raise funds, but as of Friday, not enough money had been raised.
As a result, it is said that the thugs murdered Najeebah, the eldest of the six daughters, and disposed of her body for her parents to bury.
