A total of 47 Brigadier Generals have been promoted to Major Generals by the Nigerian Army Council.

Additionally, seventy-five colonels were promoted to the rank of brigade general.

Following the retirement of 113 generals on Wednesday, they will be promoted.

However, according to a statement released on Friday by Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, the council authorized the senior officers’ promotions on Thursday.

He mentioned that Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, had pushed them to work even more to prove their worth and the faith that was placed in them.

The Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management Commandant, Brig Gen WB Etuk, the Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration Commandant, Brig Gen JE Osifo, the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management Commandant, Sector 3 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI Commander, Brig Gen TB Ugiagbe Acting Chief of Military Intelligence, Brig Gen ASM Wase Deputy Director General Land Forces Stimulation Center Nigeria Operations, and Brig Gen MA Abdullahi Commandant Depot Nigerian Army are among those who, in his words, have all been promoted to the rank of Major General.

Brig Gen OO Arogundade Commandant Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Brig Gen EI Okoro Commander 13 Brigade, Brig Gen CR Nnebeife Executive Director Nigerian Army Farms and Ranches Limited, and Brig Gen FU Mijinyawa Director Plans Army Headquarters Department of Policy and Plans (Brig Gen BI Alaya Commander Command Engineering Depot, Brig Gen AO Oyelade Director Personnel Planning, and Brig Gen FU Mijinyawa Director Plans

The others are Brig Gen ND Shagaya, Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport; Brig Gen MT Abdullahi, Commander, 50 Space Command; Brig Gen M Adamu, Commander, 32 Brigade; Brig Gen ME Onoja, Office of the CDS; and Brig Gen MO Erebulu, Acting Director, Psychological Warfare Defence Headquarters.

Colonel BA Ilori, Commander of Army Headquarters Garrison Ordnance Services; Colonel MO Ihanuwaze, Director of Army Headquarters Budget; Colonel O Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations; Colonel EE Ekpenyong, of the Nigerian Army Resource Center; Colonel SI Musa, Director of Legal Service (Army); Colonel M Galadima, Commander of Command Finance Office; and Colonel AP Ahmadu, Commander of 1 Division Ordnance Service have also been promoted to the rank of Major General.

In a statement released on behalf of the chairman of the anti-graft organization, Mr. Debo Adeniran, CACOL’s Director of Administration and Programs, Tola Oresanwo, said: “We have observed that naira scarcity has resurfaced in the country barely a year after the Central Bank of Nigeria naira redesign that ended up as a colossal fiasco and subjected our people to untold hardships.”
