Nigerian filmmaker and star actress, Funke Akindele, is opening up about her friendships in the industry and shedding light on how she sees her relationship with her colleagues like Eniola Badmus and more. Here is what Funke had to say.

During her interview with Arise TV, Funke Akindele was asked “How have you been able to manage friendship and relationships. Do you still have the same friends you had before you became the Funke Akindele? Success comes with a lot of thorns, jealousy, betrayals, and back biting. Have you experienced anything like that?” Funke responded saying:

FUNKE AKINDELE: Friendship? I think my siblings are my friends. They are my friends. I have acquaintances, people that I’m cordial with, but not serious friendships like that. Because I’m always busy working. And when I’m not working, I’m sleeping, chilling with the kids, watching a movie, chilling with the family.

I like being in my space. I don’t really like going to parties, I’m not a party animal. I don’t like it at all. I run a studio, we film every year – we have content on Youtube, movies at cinemas and on streaming platforms. I’m very busy. So I just get busy with work and my children, because I need to give them time. So when I’m not working, I’m with my children. I’m in my space.

In the industry, I have cordial relationships with people in the industry. I love working with some particular people. I work with all my colleagues, but there are some that are so dear to my heart. I have a team, my crew members. And for my colleagues, I have cordial relationship with everybody

When asked about Eniola Badmus specifically who she used to be once very close with, Funke Akindele gave the update on their relationship saying:

FUNKE AKINDELE: Eniola Badmus makes me laugh. She cracks me up so much. I love to chill with her. But, we’ve been so busy with life. Everybody is doing their thing. But I’m still cordial with her, and everybody.

“Cordial”, it sounds like they’re not as close anymore because of work and life responsibilities which is sadly, how most adult friendships are. But what do you think?
