“The Hellfire Club,” the first episode of Stranger Things Season 4, introduced us to several new characters, including Chrissy Cunningham. Chrissy is presented as a nice, caring, and sensitive lady in the show. In fact, after seeing her interact with Eddie Munson, we begin to like this new character.

Chrissy, the Hawkins High basketball team’s cheerleader, had a bright career ahead of her. Several fans assumed she would ultimately join the gang, but the Duffer Brothers had different plans for her. Chrissy has been having bizarre visions in which she hears a voice calling her name, as we witness in the first episode. We all know Vecna is haunting Chrissy, but the show doesn’t reveal it until the very end of the episode.

Chrissy refuses to tell anybody about her dreams, despite Max’s best efforts to confront her at school. That could be because she doesn’t want to be another “weird” for Hawkins’ residents. Anyway, Chrissy begins hunting for medicines to help her conquer her fear, which is when she meets Eddie.

Eddie initially serves Chrissy his normal fare, but she requests something more substantial. So, later that day, Eddie drives Chrissy home while Max keeps a close eye on them. Eddie begins searching for what Chrissy has requested, but Chrissy is soon overtaken by Vecna. Chrissy’s body appears to be in Eddie’s trailer, but her consciousness appears to be elsewhere. She awakens in a darkened replica of her Hawkins home, where she encounters a distorted version of her parents. So it’s clear that Chrissy was in the Upside Down at the time, and Vecna was catching up to her.

Chrissy wants to flee Vecna, but the demon prevents her from doing so. Eddie, on the other hand, tries to rouse Chrissy from her slumber, believing she is suffering a stroke.

Vecna then promises Chrissy that her suffering would soon come to an end, before seizing Chrissy’s body and murdering her in the most heinous manner possible. Regrettably, Eddie had to witness Chrissy’s mind and body being crushed in the same way Joyce shatters the Russian doll she receives.
