Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has suggested that Kylian Mbappe is facing the consequences of “karma” amid his recent struggles at Real Madrid.
Petit’s comments come after the French international’s lackluster performance in Real Madrid’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League at Anfield on Wednesday. Mbappe, a former PSG star, failed to make an impact, managing just one shot from open play.
The 24-year-old had a golden opportunity to score from the penalty spot but was denied by Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Caoimhin Kelleher. This marked another setback for Mbappe, who has scored only three goals in his last 10 appearances across all competitions for Real Madrid.

Speaking on After Foot RMC, Petit weighed in on Mbappe’s dip in form:
“He’s been waiting for years to make the move to Real Madrid. But, you know, there’s also karma. I believe in that kind of thing—spiritual stuff. I’m a big believer in karma. When you keep doing things that irritate people, eventually, they all start turning against you. And then, somehow, everyone ends up wanting the same thing: to see you fail.”
Petit’s remarks add to the growing scrutiny surrounding Mbappe as he adjusts to life at Real Madrid.
