“From the evidence of General A.I.Taiwo (Commander, 81 Military Intelligence Brigade, Nigerian Army, Victoria Island, Lagos) on pages 6, 7, 21, 22, the Panel finds that the Nigerian Army fired both blank and live bullets at the Lekki Toll Gate on October 20, 2020, for the following reasons,” the panel concluded in its report.

Apart from uniformed soldiers, the Army left its base with vehicles, rifles, and firearms, all of which were loaded with live and blank rounds. On page 22, General Taiwo confessed that the Army arrived at the Lekki Toll Gate with live ammunition.

When the Panel went to the Lekki Toll Gate for its on-the-spot assessment on October 30, 2020, it found two bullet shells that were duly studied by Sentinel, the forensic expert hired by the Panel who is particularly familiar with weaponry used by the Nigerian Army.

These bullet shells were believed to be identical to or comparable to those used by the Nigerian Army, and they had expended shells, indicating that they were shot live at the Lekki Toll Gate.

Okon of Lagos, in a post on Instagram, expressed his delight that the truth about the Lekki Massacre has now come to light.

The comedian took a go at Lai Mohammed, stating that defending a lie is difficult, but the Lekki incident refused to be covered up.

Okon of Lagos noted that the current development is a huge step to a win for just and the people adding that the prosecutions and compensations should immediately commence.

He wrote: The truth about the Lekki tollgate killings is out now! What a tough job you’ve got to defend a lie. This sleeping dog refuses to lie.

Big step to a big win for Justice and the people. Thank you Lagos State Government. Oya Let the prosecutions and compensations commence. Eyes are watching…
