Chelsea right defender Before tonight’s opening leg of the Uefa Champions League round of 16 matchup against Borussia Dortmund, Reece James spoke to the media.
As the club gets ready to play a tough test against an in-form German team, the English defender spoke extensively about the under-fire Chelsea manager .

He is a really excellent person and a great manager to work with. That is very helpful. A significant factor is your relationship and how well you get along with the athletes. When he came, he already had his cards out. That was very helpful .
“The management and our current circumstance are both struggling greatly. He is attempting to assist new players, choose which squad is the finest to play on, and produce results. There are several variables at play. It’s quite challenging to manage this responsibility.”
When asked about the manager’s inexperience, James stated he didn’t believe that the fact that Potter hadn’t before managed in the Champions League meant his team couldn’t go on to win it.
Graham Potter’s lack of UCL experience, according to Reece James:
“He was hired because he had a track record as a manager. I don’t believe that the fact that he came in last in the competition rules him out of winning it later on. Simply put, it hasn’t made anyone angry yet .”
He continued by praising the former Brighton manager’s tactical adaptability and asserting that everyone on the team is aware of their responsibilities and that, given time, they will come together and start winning games.
“There are fundamental strategies and others that vary from match to match based on the opposition. Everyone is aware of their responsibilities. We’ll come together and get stronger with time as the new players grasp it.”
