We may not see Jadon Sancho again this season, due to a bout of tonsillitis.

In a season full of disappointment and low points, there has been very few positives to take forward with us.

The emergence of Anthony Elanga has been nice, while Cristiano Ronaldo and David de Gea have both been excellent over large stretches.

For me, though, Jadon Sancho’s form, particularly since the turn of the year, has been great to watch. The Englishman needed some time to settle in, but has since shown us all exactly why the Old Trafford club were desperate to sign him.

However, United have been dealt a blow, with the key star now likely to be out for the rest of the season with a fresh bout of tonsillitis.

The former Borussia Dortmund man missed our game against Chelsea on Thursday, with Rangnick since confirming there’s a good chance we may not see him again in 2021/22.

“As it seems, Jadon might be out for the rest of the season with his tonsillitis, so he will most likely be unavailable against Brentford.” Rangnick told the media, including ManUtd.com.

This makes me sad. Sancho was one of the main reasons why I still tune into United matches at this point in the season – because when he’s on the ball, he’s exciting and always trying to make stuff happen.

Our other attackers (Cristiano Ronaldo aside), are seriously struggling for any sort of form and consistency. I genuinely believe we’re going to struggle even more without Sancho, when it comes to chance creation anyway.

First and foremost, Sancho has to get himself fit and ready. This season is done and dusted so at least he can now shut it down, rest up and come back hungry in the 2022/23 campaign.

He’s one of the players who I expect to make another leap forward under Erik ten Hag – and I’m genuinely excited to see just how good this young man can be going forward.

Get well soon, Jadon!
