Naira Marley and Sam Larry, prominent figures in Lagos society, have initiated legal proceedings against both the police and Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun regarding their alleged involvement in the demise of Mohbad, also known as Ilerioluwa Aloba, a 27-year-old singer.
The musician and his close friend have submitted a fundamental rights complaint to contest their ongoing detention in connection with the tragic incident. The complaint was officially lodged at the Federal High Court in Lagos, with the police and Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun named as defendants.
In their lawsuit, Naira Marley and Sam Larry are seeking damages totaling 20 million Naira.

Within their legal action, they request the court to formally declare that their continued imprisonment “at the Homicide Section of the Lagos State Police Command, Panti, Yaba, Lagos State, since October 4, 2023,” amounts to a violation of their fundamental rights.
They are also seeking “a court order for their immediate release.”
The affidavits attached to their legal filings include statements from individuals attesting to the circumstances.

On the 4th day of October 2023, the Commissioner of Police sought an order in the Magistrates’ Court, held at Yaba to remand them for 30 days
Chief Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun granted the police application to remand them for only 21 days in the custody of the police
The 21-day remand order granted by Chief Magistrate Olatunbosun has since lapsed on October 26, 2023, and the order has not been renewed”.
