Ronaldo’s marketability is one of his best assets. Only Instagram’s official account has more followers than the seasoned footballer, who also has sizable brand deals with companies like Nike, Herbalife, Clear, and LiveScore.

Ronaldo topped SportsPro’s list of the 50 most marketable sportsmen when it was revealed on Monday morning. This is the 13th year that SportsPro has put together the list, which aids businesses in selecting the athlete who will represent their brand.

Ronaldo received a “marketability score” of 91.21 out of 100, making him the most marketable athlete. With Serena Williams in second and seven-time F1 world winner Lewis Hamilton in third, he is’some distance’ ahead of them.

With 22 women on the list, the 2022 list has the highest gender diversity to date. Four women also rank in the top ten, while eight appear in the top fifteen. A “defining factor” in this, according to Morgan and Kerr, who are ranked eighth and ninth, is the growth of women’s football.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been dubbed the world’s most marketable athlete.

With 17 of them reaching the list, footballers are regarded as the most marketable athletes on the planet. After nine superstars were included, tennis is the sport with the second-highest representation. Nike, a sportswear company, sponsors 22 of the 50 participants.

LeBron James, a great basketball player, comes in fourth on the list, one spot ahead of Messi, who comes in fifth. Famous cricketer Virat Kohli is ranked seventh, while tennis star Naomi Osaka is ranked sixth. The top 10 includes Tom Brady, an NFL hero.

Michael Long, the editorial director of SportsPro, posed the question, “Who is the most marketable athlete in the planet right now? Since 2010, SportsPro has posed this exact question to itself each year, and the process of finding an answer offers a fascinating window into the world of athlete marketing.

Superstar Sam Kerr of Chelsea has entered the top ten.
“There are various ways to measure marketability, but our in-depth analysis makes it evident that each athlete on this year’s eclectic list adds significant value to their brand partners.

In addition to being elite, well-known athletes in their respective sports, they are also perfect brand ambassadors for businesses looking to engage customers in meaningful dialogue due to their personal impact, reach, and willingness to speak out on social concerns in many cases.

NorthStar Solutions Group and SportsPro collaborated to create this list, according to their president Chris Collins “The 50 Most Marketable Athletes list for this year is proudly presented by NorthStar.

I’m honored to carry on the long heritage of SportsPro and affiliated partners producing interesting, perceptive, and thought-provoking information about athlete marketability.

“I’m incredibly pleased of our team at NorthStar and grateful for the dedication and support of our partners at SportsPro, D-Tag Analytics, Zoomph, and SponsorPulse who made it possible to compile the list of the 50 Most Marketable Athletes for 2022.

“I am excited about the upcoming years as we continue our cooperation with SportsPro and other interested partners to grow the list and remain at the forefront of the ever evolving conversation around athlete marketability,” said the author.
