Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi has praised Barcelona’s “spectacular” form under their new coach, Hansi Flick.

Barça have enjoyed a remarkable start to the season, winning 11 of their first 13 LaLiga matches under Flick. They have also triumphed in three out of four Champions League games, making them the top scorers in both competitions.

Messi expressed particular admiration for the team’s reliance on homegrown talent, noting that eight academy graduates played a key role in the 4-0 El Clásico victory over Real Madrid this season.

“I’m hugely proud to see how the first team is representing the club right now,” Messi told TV3.

“This Barça side is spectacular, although it doesn’t surprise me. It’s nothing new—it’s always been like this, or at least since I joined the club as a 13-year-old.

“It’s amazing to see the academy kids getting opportunities in the last two years. When you trust them, they respond, because they know the club better than anyone.”
