On Monday, September 13th, 2021, the Otukpo Community Volunteer Guards (Asa Beat) raided a suspected notorious criminal’s hideout and recovered big things worth millions of Naira from his property at Ole’ena village, ASA; behind NTA office, Otukpo local government area of Benue State.
The suspect, Mr. Moses Godwin, has been terrorizing residents of Otukpo and its surrounds with his elder brother, Mr. Michael Godwin. They specialize in breaking into people’s homes and robbing them of their things. After a tip-off, the Asa Beat squad, led by commander Comrade Uloko George, initiated a manhunt for the kingpin, only to uncover the unfinished building that the suspects use as a warehouse for their stolen goods.

Before the security officers arrived, the suspect is believed to have escaped his home. Mrs. Queen Godwin, his wife, said she last saw him on Sunday evening after a meeting with his friends at his home.
Mr. Michael Godwin, the kingpin’s older brother, and his sister were apprehended and handed over to the Nigerian Police Division of Otukpo.
In response to the development, Hon. George Alli, Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government, praised the Otukpo Community Volunteer Guards (Asa Beat) and the Police for the raid’s success.
Alli urged residents of Otukpo Local Government to go about their daily lives fearlessly and to alert security agencies to any suspicious activity in their area.
Goats, wheelbarrows, bicycles, generator sets, plasma televisions in large numbers, motorcycles, street lights, solar panels and inverters, furniture, mattresses, pots and other kitchen utensils, foreign doors, GEE-PEE tanks and drums, industrial fans, home tiles in cartons, foreign cabinets and room dividers, jacko sprayer, DVDs and Home theatre were among the items recovered from the kingpin’s hideout.
Once the inquiry is completed, the Council Boss said a date will be set for members of the public to come in and identify their missing belongings with evidence of ownership.
