A newlywed Nigerian lady shared on social media the customs her in-laws requested she adhere to after she wed her husband.
The woman said in a video she posted on TikTok that her husband’s family, who are reportedly fans of culture and history, forced her and her husband to follow practices that people in today’s generation would often consider outdated, as soon as they got married.
She claimed that the first meal she prepared for her husband was to be especially special in accordance with Isoko tradition, therefore she was requested to cook outside the compound using firewood and serve him while bending over on both knees.

She added that her husband was not spared, as he was also asked to tie a wrapper around himself and shower her with prayers while he ate the food.
Recounting the experience, she wrote,
“In line with the Isoko tradition, my mother gave me some fish to cook my husband’s first meal. Emphasis was placed on cooking with firewood, pouring powder on my body, wearing beads and tying wrapper.
