“It was not easy,” Toyin said of her ordeal. My manager had to arrange for an American counselor to meet with me. I knew I needed counseling, but even when you know you need it, you sometimes prefer to be alone. I was depressed, but I didn’t want to admit it. I used to sit down and cry for no apparent reason. Even when I was surrounded by people, I was terrified. When somebody phoned me for anything wonderful, I would be terrified. I was unhappy, and although being properly fed, I lost weight. I was quite frail. I used to call my manager and cry because I was always upset. I was in a bad mood. The incident occurred within the last three years.
