Jaiye Kuti, a well-known actress, attributes the success of her marriage to God’s grace and her use of moderation.
She stated, “It is only through the grace of God, as well as the support and understanding of family, in an interview with Sunday Scoop. I also strive to practice moderation in whatever I do. To establish ongoing ties with my family, I make sure to set aside meaningful time for them.
Speaking on some of the challenges she faced when she got into the industry, Kuti said, “Acceptance is a major challenge for most new actors and I wasn’t an exception. People are often afraid/skeptical of what they are not familiar with.
“It is not unusual that when one gets into the industry, one will have to work hard and fight for one’s space. I had to do that and I still do in order to remain relevant. However, God has been very merciful to me and I am indeed grateful.”
Asked to assess the current state of the industry, she said, “The industry is growing, especially with the revival of the cinema culture and the entry of major digital distribution platforms. The industry has become more democratic, and it is now easier for one to recoup one’s investments.
“However, there’s still so much that can be done in terms of operational regulations, funding opportunities, grants and infrastructure. I believe the government and corporate bodies can give certain support to help the industry attain its full potential.”
The Olori Amolege actress also stated that she intentionally moderates the way she shares pictures of her family on social media. She said, “Social media is just to create social moments and it’s not all social moments that one’s nuclear family is part of. Also, the world is more different than ever. We have to be careful and pay attention to the times. I don’t believe in flaunting everything about my home or family.”
