Despite these results, Nigeria remains among the top 40 football nations globally. In Africa, they are ranked sixth, behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, and Tunisia.

Their direct rivals, Ghana, sit at 70th, while South Africa is at 59th.
