Last season, the 29-year-old defender received harsh criticism from fans as the Red Devils’ captain took the brunt of their anger at seeing their team finish sixth.

However, ESPN reports that Maguire believes his teammates and coaches have let him down by not using his strengths.

Maguire’s lack of speed combined with the number one goalkeeper in Spain’s inability to sprint off his line has given opponents plenty of space to play in front of United’s defense.

Additionally, the England international believes De Gea’s poor communication has a part to play in his performance.

Recall that Harry Maguire won’t start for Manchester United against Liverpool, according to TalkSport reports. Erik ten Hag has also been persuaded by former player and club legend Wayne Rooney not to start Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool squad.

The third round of the 2022/2023 English Premier League will see Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team vs Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United at the Old Trafford Stadium.
