Former Everton player Alan Stubbs has cautioned the Premier League club against hiring Jose Mourinho as their next manager.
Speculation has arisen that the incoming owners of Everton may want to bring Mourinho to Goodison Park. The Friedkin Group is in the process of finalizing a takeover after agreeing to purchase Farhad Moshiri’s majority 94 percent stake in the club. Dan Friedkin, the owner and CEO of the group, is reportedly interested in appointing the Portuguese manager, who currently leads Fenerbahçe.
Mourinho has an illustrious coaching history, having managed top clubs like Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United, Inter Milan, and Porto. However, Stubbs believes the 61-year-old is no longer the same manager who was once regarded as one of the best in the world.

“If Everton were considering appointing the Mourinho of old—the young, successful, and charismatic Mourinho—I would say yes, bring him in. Most Everton fans would agree because peak Mourinho was a very special manager,” Stubbs told BestBettingSites. “But if Everton were to pursue him now, I honestly don’t think it would be a good move. His recent managerial stints haven’t gone well, even though he still brings a certain sparkle.”
