Hudson-Odoi has since revealed to the Daily Mail that Chelsea co-owner Boehly insisted on having it excluded from the agreement. It’s the meticulousness that was possibly lacking during Roman Abramovich’s time at the club. Given that Boehly served as the interim sporting director during the summer, his increased involvement is understandable.

It’s unquestionably different, said Hudson-Odoi. “A club always wants the option to buy the player at the end of the season when trying to sign a player [on loan]. Listen, we want you back here, Todd was saying.

“You’re still on the club’s radar as someone they want. The way he’s trying to set it up, he’s trying to buy a lot of young players for the upcoming years. It demonstrates his desire to help the players adjust to the club and grow.”

Hudson-Odoi went into more depth about his choice to quit Chelsea. When he was left out of the team to play Everton on the first weekend of the season, he admitted that it was a “tough moment” and he wasn’t sure what he was doing wrong at Chelsea.

The winger continued, “It was one of those trying times where you look in the mirror and wonder, ‘What am I doing wrong?'” Has anything I’ve done to deserve to be left out of the squad?

“I would never criticize Thomas [Tuchel]; he was a decent man and a good manager. But it was frustrating in the opening game of the year. Any football player who isn’t on the team will appreciate how annoying it is.

The more games you play, the more consistent you get with regular football. The more the figure begins to take shape.

“You feel better, more energized, and as like the manager trusts you to be pushed and propelled forward rather than being treated properly. You don’t want to sit on the sidelines wondering “Why am I not playing?” for weeks on end, so that by the time you do play, your legs are rusty.

“Consistency in football is very crucial. I’m getting that here, and it helps to lift my spirits.

“You feel rejuvenated right now when you’re playing games since you’re in a different nation and have had brand-new experiences. Knowing that I get to play games every week while having fun and smiling is definitely reviving.”

Since joining the team, Hudson-Odoi has appeared five times for Leverkusen, three of which were in the Bundesliga and two of which were in the Champions League. The Chelsea loanee is having a good time playing football, and Boehly and Graham Potter are hoping he’ll return as a different player in the summer.
