The move is conditional on the 22-year-old agreeing personal terms with Liverpool and passing a medical examination.

Nunez will then sign a five-year contract with the company.

Julian Ward, Liverpool’s director of football, was in Portugal to finalize the transfer while negotiating the terms of the agreement.

Nunez scored 34 goals in all competitions for Benfica last season, including goals in both legs of the club’s Champions League quarter-final loss to Liverpool in April.
