The Blues are’still in communication’ with Leao about a prospective move to west London, and Carlo Garganese of Transfersdotcom claims that they are one of the frontrunners.

However, Chelsea is facing increasing opposition in the race to sign the Portugal international as he continues to shine at the World Cup in Qatar.

Leao, whose contract with the Italian powerhouses expires in 2024, came off the bench as his country faced Ghana in the tournament opener. He distinguished himself with a powerful shot that gave Fernando Santos’ team a two-goal advantage. After failing to impress over two legs against the Blues in the Champions League earlier this season, his impressive performance convinced Graham Potter of his talent.

Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool are all competing with Chelsea for the services of Leao, according to the Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by Milan News. According to reports, the Portuguese star’s contract has a €150 million (£130.5 million) release clause.

According to Sky Italia, he recently changed agents, which has caused “turmoil” in the talks with Milan. According to the article, Leao is asking the Rossoneri for salaries of €9 million to €10 million (£7.8 million to £8.7 million) year.

Chelsea will be hoping to capitalize on the uncertainty surrounding the Portuguese star’s future at the San Siro. It remains to be seen whether the Italian powerhouses and the player can come to an agreement amidst new complications.

The club is certain that Leao would sign an extension, according to Milan sporting director Ricky Massara, who made the remark during the Gran Gala del Calcio awards ceremony in October.

He explained the following to Sky Sport Italia: “We have faith. We intend to build on the boy’s development, stabilize the team to ensure continuity at the highest levels, and find a way to work with Leao for a very long time.”

Leao had been warned not to sign with the Blues, even if a transfer to Chelsea was on the verge.

According to Football Italia, former Rossoneri striker Jean Pierre Papin stated in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport that Maldini advised him to stay if he wanted to grow stronger. Paolo and I both concur.

“Leao must assess Chelsea’s roster and consider how much room he would have as a starter. He is invincible in Milan,” he continued. “He knows how to communicate himself, and he has an intimate understanding of his colleagues. The greatest option is to remain and develop within the Rossoneri.
