Part of the statement stated, “Chartered accountant Martin Spencer, who served as Chelsea’s primary financial advisor in the late 1970s and early 1980s, has passed away at the age of 89. Spencer diligently guided the club away from the rocks of financial oblivion.

His efforts were so outstanding that he was given the position of chief executive, making him one of the first people in football to do so.

However, Chelsea offers its condolences to Spencer’s loved ones.
