On Monday, a 21-story building fell on Gerard Road in the Ikoyi region of Lagos State, killing at least ten people.

 

Buhari has ordered officials to step up rescue efforts, citing the fact that some people are still buried beneath the rubble.

 

“President Muhammadu Buhari sympathizes with families who have lost loved ones in the 22-story building collapse in Lagos, where some remain trapped,” the statement stated.

 

 

President Buhari expressed his condolences to the people and government of Lagos State, encouraging authorities to scale up rescue efforts and emergency institutions, like as hospitals, to provide all necessary support to save the lives of those who have been rescued.

 

In the ongoing rescue operations, the President prays for God’s intervention.”

 

Gbenga Omotosho, the Lagos state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, said in a statement that rescue services were on the ground trying to save individuals trapped beneath the rubble.

 

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, he said, has ordered an investigation into the incident, and that the results of the investigation will be made public.
