During the striker transfer plot, Benjamin Sesko’s agent was spotted with Chelsea officials.
During Chelsea’s Champions League match against RB Salzburg, Elvis Basanovic, Benjamin Sesko’s agent, was seen in a suite with Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali. The 19-year-summer old’s transfer to the Premier League was hotly rumoured. Instead, he decided to sign a deal with RB Leipzig, which is estimated to have cost around £20 million.

It’s been reported that Manchester United met with the Slovenian international multiple times on their own. Following a few eye-opening performances this season, the Premier League partnership is now regretting their choice to pass on Sesko.

The Slovenian, who admires Erling Haaland, has made 21 appearances for Matthias Jaissle’s team this year and has directly assisted eight goals. Although he occasionally looked impressive, Sesko failed to score against Chelsea in the Champions League this season.

He did become famous in September though, when he scored an incredible volley against Sweden in Slovenia’s penultimate match before the break. Sesko’s outstanding performance gave his nation a valuable point, helping Matjaz Kek’s team narrowly avoid being demoted from UEFA Nations League League B.

The Slovenian aspires to follow in the footsteps of Haaland, who achieved success at Salzburg. He’s an outstanding player, I have a lot of admiration for him, and I frequently watch YouTube videos about him, Sesko stated in an interview with Norway’s TV 2.

The Manchester City striker was asked to switch clothes by Sesko. He spoke on the experience as follows: “I’m thrilled to get Haaland’s shirt. It’s something I want to keep for my jersey collection. Also adding “well played,” I was overjoyed.”

The question of whether Sesko could improve even more than the Norwegian was then put to him. He answered: “It is quite challenging. He is performing at the absolute greatest level. Only a few percentage succeed in reaching that level.”

Boehly’s meeting with Sesko’s representative takes place as Graham Potter plans to make significant purchases in January. The Blues manager reportedly wants to add a new striker during the forthcoming transfer window, according to the French publication Jeunes Footeux.
