The youngest player to ever score in the competition, Lamine Yamal netted a stunning goal in the semi-final and earned a place in the team of the tournament, playing a key role in his national team’s famous triumph.
Carrying that form into the 2024/25 season, Yamal has been remarkable at club level as well, contributing to nine goals—four goals and five assists—in just eight La Liga games.
One player Yamal has come up against several times in his young career is Real Madrid and Germany center-back Antonio Rudiger. Speaking on the podcast The Inside Scoop, Rudiger shared his admiration for Yamal’s development:

“You have to give credit where it’s due,” Rudiger said. “He’s 17, and it’s ridiculous. The player he already is at that age is quite scary.”
Rudiger praised Yamal’s performances in the Euros and added, “He has a great future ahead. I think they have a player who can have a [big] career, and hopefully, he stays healthy.”
Rudiger and Yamal are set to face each other again in El Clasico on October 26th, with Yamal’s Barcelona currently leading La Liga, having won seven of their first eight games.
