The young artist was born in Agege, Lagos State, on May 10, 1991. He relocated to Peckham, South London, when he was 11 years old.

He went to Porlock Hall before going to Walworth School to get his General Certificate of Secondary Education.

Peckham Academy’s Naira Marley earned a distinction in business. He also attended Crossways College to study business law (now Christ the King Sixth Form College)

Naira Marley Career

Naira Marley recorded and published his debut EP, Gotta Dance, one year after starting to pursue music. He had already released his debut single, Marry Juana, which featured Max Twigz.

Until 2017, Naira Marley had not reached the success he had hoped for. He achieved success after releasing Issa Goal, which featured Olamide and Lil Kesh.

Issa Goal, which was published in December 2017, quickly became the country’s favourite street pop song, garnering widespread rotation on radio stations and club speakers.

At the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the Super Eagles adopted Issa Goal as their theme song.

Naira Marley draws his inspiration from the late Jamaican reggae sensation, Bob Marley. Bob Marley is globally known as a pioneer in Jamaican music and he is regarded as one of the greatest Jamaican music artists of all time.

He revealed that the inspiration behind the name ‘Naira Marley’ was obtained from Bob Marley. His love and admiration for Bob Marley were profound and evident that his appearance (dreadlocks) resembles that of the Late Jamaican music legend.
