Graham Potter stated that Fikayo Tomori’s dismissal played a “little part” in Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Milan in the UEFA Champions League.
Tomori received the red card and a penalty in the 18th minute for a tackle on Mason Mount. Although VAR could have intervened to prevent Jorginho from giving Chelsea the advantage from the spot, Milan was furious over the decision. The advantage was quickly increased by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and at that point the game was practically gone.
However, the Chelsea boss was happy to acknowledge following the game that the pivotal decision was anything but straightforward.

“To come here and win is not easy, that’s for sure,” Potter told BT Sport.
They were outstanding. Although the opponent being down to 10 men grants us some luck, the performance was solid overall. We’re glad to depart with three points and it’s fantastic to have a clean sheet once more.

“From my vantage point, it’s challenging. He appeared to have his hand on Mason Mount when he appeared to be through on goal. I have to adjust my vision. It’s wonderful that Jorginho scored and that a penalty was awarded. It was a good thing that was done to bring it about. It is what it is. You could occasionally be a target for them.
