The 8th edition of the African Magic Viewers Choice award which held tonight, May 14, 2022 has come to end and in case you missed the show, Kemi Filani brings you these 8 exciting moments from it.
Kick starting the show was actor Deyemi Okanlawon who tried to pull a Will Smith stunt at popular media personality, Ik Osakioduwa, the show’s presenter when Osakioduwa joked about the need for Nollywood stars to up their games in movie production and acting to earn awards. Obviously not impressed with Osakioduwa’s jokes, Deyemi Okanlawon walked furiously to meet Ik Osakioduwa at the stage but was dragged back by the bouncers.
Another exciting moment, was when JJC Skillz and his wife, Funke Akinele put up a damage control by appearing on stage to receive an award together, thus disregarding claims that they are having a marital crisis. It was beautiful watching JJC Skillz shouting and hailing wife with excitement and joy and the best part was when Funke Akindele dedicated her award to him and their twins.
There was also the moment Iyabo Ojo fumbled on stage when announcing some category winners with actress Caroline Danjuma, for best MakeUp Artist in a Movie/TV Series. We aren’t sure if it was deliberate or indeed a fumble. We however loved the moment she ended her long time beef with Funke Akindele by embracing her and exchanging pecks with her on stage.
Also worthy of mention was the beautiful rendition of Beyonce’s I was Here by Nigerian Idol 2021 finalists, Kingdom and Akunna, in honor of the departed Nollywood super stars.
Some other favorite performances were that of Yemi Alade who opened the show, singer Lagbaja and his ever green konko below track and also D’banj closing performance for the show.
We also had actress Osas Ighodaro emerging best dressed for the night in a veekay James dress and this win is interestingly coming after her recent fashion clash with actress Eve Esin at Ini Edo’s 40th birthday party.
How could we forget the moment Hollywood actress, Tasha Smith announced a $2000 cash gift for the trail blazer award winner, Teniola Aladese.
Veteran actress, Taiwo Ajayi Lycett made us beam with smiles as she danced on stage to receive her lifetime achievement award, she also rendered a beautiful speech.
Topping it all was the announcement of the commence meant of the 2022 editon of the Big brother Naija auditions by Ik Osakioduwa as the show ended.
