The State Police of Kano, on On Monday, the Kano State Police verified that the command had apprehended a reputed kidnapper and cattle rustler in the state’s Karaye Local Government Area and had taken 55 cows from him.reported on Monday that the command had apprehended a reputed kidnapper and livestock rustler in the state’s Karaye Local Government Area and had recovered 55 cows from him.

The suspect was apprehended by the command’s Anti-kidnapping Squad, according to CP Hussaini Gumel. He further stated that on Sunday, February 4 at approximately 17:40 hours, the suspected kidnapper of Kaya village in Giwa LGA of Kaduna State was apprehended at Karaye LGA, Kano, together with 55 cows and six lambs.

During questioning, the suspect allegedly admitted that he was fleeing the rival camp of the Maidaro bandits, which was headed by Boderi Isiya of the same location, by way of Birnin Gwari LGA in Kaduna State.

The suspect also revealed that the gunfight claimed the lives of his gang boss in Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State, as well as his assistant. He also claimed to have fled with three AK-47 guns and numerous cattle, planning to take up residence in the forests of Gwarzo and Karaye LGAs.

The police went on to say that he admitted to taking part in multiple kidnapping and livestock rustling incidents in the states of Kaduna, Katsina, and Zamfara with other camp members.

“We have since launched a manhunt for the fleeing gang members,” Gumel said.

Gumel did, however, reassure the state that police would do everything in their power to ensure that citizens had enough security, and he urged citizens to submit reliable information that would help apprehend the offenders who were escaping.
