Man United are saved by Ronaldo’s late header, while Chelsea defeat Malmo in the Champions League.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s late header helped Manchester United come back from a two-goal deficit to defeat Atalanta 3-2.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side staged a spectacular second-half comeback to relieve some of the manager’s strain.

After a 4-2 setback at the weekend, Solskjaer’s status at Old Trafford was firmly under the spotlight. Atalanta led 2-0 at halftime thanks to goals from Mario Pasalic and Merih Demiral. The pressure was rising on the Norwegian.

With 15 minutes remaining, goals from Marcus Rashford (53) and Harry Maguire (75) brought the home side level.

It was everything set up for a spectacular conclusion, and with time running down, it was that man Ronaldo who delivered the finishing touch, heading home to seal Solskjaer’s side’s incredible comeback.

With the win, United, who were bottom of the group at one point during the encounter, climb to the top of Group F with three games remaining.
