Rohr speaks on the Super Eagles’ 2-1 victory over Cape Verde.

Gernot Rohr, Nigeria’s coach, has conceded that his side’s 2-1 win over Cape Verde in a World Cup qualifier was not easy.

The Blue Sharks gained an early lead on their home ground, but the Super Eagles came back with two goals to win the game.

In their quest to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the three-time African champions have six points after two matches.

When speaking to the media, Rohr admitted that subduing their hosts was not an easy feat. Regardless, he’s set his sights on maintaining their unblemished record.

We had to draft a new team after the first match against Liberia because Cape Verde is a very talented team, we played on a synthetic pitch, and we had to play on a synthetic pitch,” Rohr told the journalists.

It was not simple to pick another squad in three days, but as you can see, Nigeria has talent from all around the world.

“We’re thrilled to win because it’s not easy to come back against a top team when you concede the first goal and play away in difficult conditions.

We applied strong pressure for the second goal, and the defender attempted to pass to his goalie, which we took advantage of. We want to keep winning games and playing well.”
